BY NARENDRA KUSNUR Parikrama/ Demons Of Time
Label: Self-released
Rating: ****
At the time of writing this blog, Delhi rock superstars Parikrama were yet to perform 'Demons Of Time' on a live platform.
Their latest release was to be first played live at the ongoing Mahindra Independence Rock festival.
So here it is, a six minute 38 seconds track that's as anthemic as it can get. It's got that repeat-loop riff that binds the song and Nitin Malik's soaring vocals, with keyboardist Subir Malik
and guitarists Abhishek Mittal and Saurabh Chaudhary dazzling in their parts.
"A curse from the past, finally come to pass", begins Nitin, who follows it later in the song with "All I could see is the sound, all I could hear was burning ground". After their last release 'Transclucent Night', this is another gem.
Rahul Advani/ O My
Label: Self-released
Rating: *** 1/2
A year ago, Rahul Advani had released the song 'Ready To Breathe', which talked of someone dealing with pressure. On his new song 'O My', he talks of overcoming a feeling of self-doubt.
The song begins with the words, "I was a casualty of memory, I was so lost inside someone else's dream" but moves on to "And I was strong, I could take it on". Get the drift?
The video, directed by Karan Asnani, features Sainee Raj. It goes well with the song's emotions, starting off in a room but moving outdoors to the streets and the beach. Symbolic.
Pratichee Mohapatra/ Jee Rahein

Rating: ****
Here's a moving and motivating song that reflects the spirit of a lipocircoma/ breast cancer survivor. Pratichee Mohapatra, formerly part of the girl band Viva, sings, "Jee rahein hum zindagi, koi nahin ab gila; jee rahein ab zindagi, hona na yoon tu fana".
The music, composed and produced by
Shubham Srivastava, has a pleasant backdrop. The words by Sourabh Nema touch a chord. Prathamesh Palav's graphic design adorns the lyrics video.
The song impresses with its simplicity, conveying the message of hope and positivity easily.
Ashwin Adwani/ Unke Rangon Mein
Label: Molfa Music
Rating; ***
In the new release 'Unke Rangon Mein', young Indore-based singer-songwriter Ashwin Adwani sings about new people creating a sudden impact on one's life.
The song has a synth-pop vibe and a good build-up, with Somanshu's production and Shikhar Chaudhary's guitars adding the right energy. Aditya Verma's video captures the singer in different expressions, with some shots taken from the terrace.
The tune may not be path-breaking but it's a sincere effort. While Ashwin claims to be influenced by Ed Sheeran and Lauv, there are some traces of Lucky Ali in the song's feel.
Jubin Nautiyal/ Raabta
Label: T-Series
Rating: ***
Mom tells son to get married. Reluctantly, he agrees. Luckily for mom, he likes the girl whose family has come with a proposal.
Jubin Nautiyal goes in for a simple love song in 'Raabta', with Junaid Warsi writing, "Raabta rab ne jabse tujhse jod diya, dil ne toh maangna hi chhod diya". Chirantan Bhatt's music has an easy, romantic vibe.
In the video, directed by Dhruwal Patel and Jigar Mulani, Jubin appears with Adah Sharma. It's got a filmi vibe, and you've seen the story often before.
